Three new faces have joined the board of YWCA England & Wales, a national charity working with young women experiencing discrimination and disadvantage.
Their appointments come at a time when the 150 year old organisation is planning to increase its campaigning, lobbying and policy activities, to raise its profile on the national stage and ensure its work meets the needs of young women in the 21st century.
The newcomers are Helen Wollaston, Director of Campaigns for the Equal Opportunities Commission in Manchester; Lynn Pertoldi, a life coach and human resources consultant from Oldham, Lancashire; and Shanaz Mason, a project manager for Leeds City Council.
They join 14 other board members who are responsible for setting the aims and strategic objectives of YWCA. The board, which meets five times a year, is also responsible for making sure YWCA is well run and managed, financially stable and moving ahead to meet changing demands.
